I’ve been researching the history of my family for the past decade or so: you can read about my findings here. My research into the lives of my ancestors has led to a number of ‘spin-off’ websites, including Recusants and Renegades, Dissenting Lives, The Bonds of Betrayal, Citizens and Cousins, and now this blog. I’ve also created a blog about The History of Moulsham, the area where I spent my childhood.
Born in East Ham, I grew up in Chelmsford, Essex. I studied English Literature at Downing College, Cambridge and Manchester University, and Psychology with The Open University. I worked for a number of years in adult and community education, before joining The Open University, where I’m now a senior lecturer (my academic blog can be found here). I live in Hitchin, Hertfordshire with my wife Helen and our children, James and Anna.
